NFL Odds Report 10/8 (TOP PLAY): Chargers -6.5 over Steelers

NFL odds report 10

The 49ers improved to 4-0 with a resounding 31-3 win on Monday night over the Cleveland Browns. The win also improved my record to 33-27-1 as we head into week 6.  I also sit at 10-5-1 in my top plays this year. Each day on CA Betting News, I will continue to break down and analyze at least one game for the upcoming week’s action, and my top three plays of the week will come on Fridays, one being a California team on the card. Looking ahead early at Week 6, here is one of my plays using the latest odds from FanDuel Sportsbook and DraftKing Sportsbook

Pittsburgh Steelers at Los Angeles Chargers -6.5

FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: LAC -6.5

DraftKings Sportsbook Odds: LAC -6.5

chargersI’ll begin with this by stating from reading all the injury reports out there ahead of time, I don’t expect Mason Rudolph to play on Sunday after that vicious hit and concussion he sustained against the Ravens. The Steelers are already preparing for Devin Hodges to make his first ever start, which doesn’t bode well for the Steelers chances. Hodges was the third-string quarterback on the depth chart at the beginning of the season. Last week’s game was a dud for the Chargers, but it’s not truly indicative of the team they are. They just simply laid an egg. This is a must-win game for Los Angeles to get back in the AFC West race where they have dropped to third behind Kansas City and Oakland. The Chargers got away from their identity a week ago going to Keenan Allen, which was made difficult against a difficult Broncos pass defense, but the Steelers pass defense is much more susceptible to the pass. While Denver is a top-10 total defense overall and top-5 against the pass, the Steelers rank No. 16 in total defense. There’s a chance the Chargers could get Hunter Henry back this week in the passing game, which would be a huge help to Phillip Rivers. While the Steelers have to travel cross-country, the Chargers will get to practice and play at home yet another week. I just expect the Chargers to come out angry and with a chip on their shoulder against an exhausted Steelers team who had a short-week last week, had to go to overtime, and now to have to travel cross-country. The Steelers were up for their last two divisional games, but will likely feel a bit of a letdown in this spot. Like the Browns last night in San Francisco, expect another blowout Sunday night from a California team over an AFC North team. This is my first top play of the week. Expect the Chargers BIG over the Steelers.

Prediction: Chargers 34, Steelers 13
