NFL Odds Report 9/20: Browns-Rams 1H Under 23.5, Lions +6 @ Eagles, Bucs OVER 26.5 total points

NFL odds report 7

Thursday night football kicked off week 3 on Thursday night with the Jaguars winning their first game of the year on a rainy night in Jacksonville, 20-7. I was 1-1 in my Thursday night plays bringing my record to 16-13 on the season and 4-2 on my top plays. Each day on CA Betting News, I will provide for you analysis and at least one play for the upcoming’s week action. I will always give you my top three picks on Friday, one which includes a California team, and my top player props on Sunday.  Here are my top three picks for Week 3 of the NFL betting season using the latest odds from FanDuel Sportsbook and DraftKings Sportsbook:

Los Angeles Rams @ Cleveland Browns 1H Under 23.5 points

FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: 1H Under 23.5

DraftKings Sportsbook Odds: 1H Under 23.5

brownsramsI hate that this first half total number has snuck under they key number of 24, and if you can get 24 by buying points, I would suggest it, but I still think at 23.5, you’re safe. These are two teams who have yet to have a game this season where the halftime total has hit 20. The Rams have had 16 and 9 first half totals and the Browns 18 and 19 first half totals. Both teams have started sluggish in their games this season, particularly the Rams who hit the gas pedal in both wins over the Panthers and the Saints in the second half. I think this will be a chess game early with both teams trying to establish a running game and having a hard time getting the pass game going against a solid defense on the other side of the ball. Also, factor in the weather in this game where wind gusts are expected to be 25-30mph with a chance of storms. Wind keeps the passing game on hold. It’ll be a slugfest early and I think another low scoring first half for both teams.

Prediction: Halftime score Rams 10, Browns 10

Detroit Lions +6.5 @ Philadelphia Eagles

FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: Det +6.5

DraftKings Sportsbook Odds: Det +6.5

lionsThe Lions put their undefeated record on the line Sunday as they travel to Philadelphia and take on a very banged up Eagles team. There’s growing word that DeSean Jackson and Alshon Jeffery both might be out until week 5 with injuries. That puts Nelson Agholor as the Eagles No. 1 wide receiver entering Sunday’s game, and gives me reason to like Zac Ertz for a Sunday player prop. But the Eagles have shown some vulnerability in their secondary the last two weeks, giving up 700 passing yards combined to the Redskins and Falcons. They currently ranks 30th in total pass defense. Stafford should be able to have some success as well moving the football through the air with Kenny Golladay, Danny Amendola, Marvin Jones, Jr., and T.J. Hockenson. I think the Lions have a good shot at winning this game outright but to be safe, will take the +6.5 points and ride the Lions.

Prediction: Lions 23, Eagles 20

Tampa Bay Buccaneers OVER 26.5 points vs. N.Y. Giants

FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: TB OVER 26.5 points

DraftKings Sportsbook Odds: TB OVER 26.5 points

bucsThe Giants have been a mess so far this year, giving 329 yards per game through the air and ranking 28th in total defense. They’ve given up just under 31 points per game the first two weeks of the season. The Bucs offense has been up and down the first couple weeks, but playing at home should help their confidence against a struggling Giants squad. With Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and O.J. Howard leading the air attack, Jameis Winston should be able to move the ball with ease at home in the scorching heat, something the Giants are not accustomed to. I do think the Giants will have some success moving the ball, too, with Daniel Jones, but am not going to take a chance on the over with this being his first game. However, I do think Winston has a huge game and the Bucs confidence level rises with the rest of the NFC South division hurting. I like the Bucs to score more than 26.5 points on Sunday.

Prediction: Bucs 34, Giants 17
