We are a day away from Week 3 kicking off in Jacksonville on Thursday night. Each day on CA Betting News. during the NFL betting season, I will give you at least one play and analysis with my top three plays of the week coming on Friday. One of those plays will be from a California team. Thus far this season, I am 15-12 against the spread and 4-2 on my top plays. I am also 5-0 in first half unders, and may put that undefeated run on the line tomorrow night. Here is my first play of Week 3 using the latest odds from FanDuel Sportsbook and DraftKings Sportsbook:
New York Jets @ New England Patriots -12.5 First Half
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: NE -12.5 1H
DraftKings Sportsbook Odds: NE -12.5 1H
I’ve been studying this one all day and have tried my hardest to make a case for the Jets to keep this close, and…well….I just can’t. I just don’t see how it happens barring a Patriots complete meltdown on Sunday. The Patriots have outscored its opponents 76-3 so far this season and are coming off a 43-0 drubbing of the Dolphins. The Jets come in to New England on a short week just getting embarrassed at home 23-3 against the Browns. To make matters worse, the Jets are now without their top two quarterbacks and will start third-stringer Luke Falk on Sunday. The Patriots have started out games a bit slow, so I expect them to try and get off to a quicker start this week. I believe it will only take 13 points to cover that 12.5 first half number. I don’t like point-spreads over 20 points and worry about a back door cover here, but if forced to make a pick on the game as a whole, I think the Patriots will cover this number. Playing it a little more safe, I think the pats have at least a two-touchdown lead at halftime and put the Jets away quickly in this game. I like the Patriots in the first half.
Prediction: Halftime score Patriots 17, Jets 0
